The University of Cadiz opens a Roycan language lab.
The Institute of Applied Linguistics (ILA) has inaugurated two innovative Roycan Language Labs. The new lab was specially designed to meet the needs of a center specializing in Linguistics training and research.
ILA is a top-flight institution whose mission is research, training, knowledge transfer, and the launch of language-related services. It draws together various lines of work and fosters interdisciplinary projects to meet current-scientific, social, economic, and business needs.
Roycan drew up a specially designed project to meet the needs of these academic disciplines. The solution was based on Optimas Technology® and special features were added to meet the demands of the highly-specialized education provided by ILA.
Roycan specifically adapted to the center`s needs to create a Computational Linguistics Lab and a Forensic Linguistics Lab. Each field required specific applications. While Optimas Technology® offers such solutions, these needed tweaking to meet the specific needs in each case.
For example, a lab for Computational Linguistics (a discipline that studies the relationship between natural language and computer programming language) required a solution offering more computing features for laptops. In the case of the Forensic Linguistics Lab, an adaptive technology was needed for individual and group work. In both cases, the solution fully met the objectives.
These new facilities thus expand the center’s professional scope and skills, boosting its training offerings. Above all, the lab enhances the quality of the education imparted by ILA and paves the way for students’ future careers.
